Not only is this Cypress charcuterie board gorgeous, but it has a lot of history as well. In 1884, Peter Reupeter who was a German immigrant, purchased 50 acres in Lafayette, Louisiana which is half of what the current Horse Farm property is today. This property served as a dairy farm and a place to raise live stock. Over the course of ten years, Reupeter built a dairy barn which was as a landmark in Acadiana for over 100 years. Not far from the barn, Reupeter built a modest farm house which survived on the property until it was demolished in 2013. Later that year, the property was leased to Lafayette Central Park, Inc., known today as Moncus Park, a nonprofit created to plan, design, build and operate a new community park. Remnants of that house were stored in the red dairy barn which was unused and unhabitable for many years. In 2021, the barn was demolished, but some of the wood was kept to be repurposed for a treehouse currently under construction in the Park and other pieces were sold to local community members. This piece pays homage to the Horse Farm property by living on as a repurposed relic from the original house built in 1901.

Board measures 18"W x 12" T x 1.25"D.
